Man At the Sleepless Goat

Erratic frayed movements
he spills his coffee twice
flipping between a book
and a crossword
    
              jerking and flailing
like a child
in a dentist’s chair

Perhaps he is avoiding a lover
or craving his last cigarette
whatever it is
that has his soul churning

I don’t think his coffee is strong enough
