This inertia isn’t destructive,
we’re just less passive than raindrops.

Through the living room window, I saw the taxi pull up,
but I couldn’t leave.

From downstairs,
your fingers,
like a grappling hook,
sunk through the skin of my chest.

Plummeting towards earth,
a billion molecules when I hit the surface.
