Bath Salt
by Laura Rojas
god I hate the feeling of waterbeds forming on my face under my eyes, under my skin riverbeds like table salt, licking a whole cube of it (like you did when you were only five, six, seven years old)
a drop of it on your tongue at the most unexpected moment
a riptide of loneliness urges me to hold myself together
one arm across my chest another arm under my ribcage
my crystal ribcage
(I can still feel the weight of that moment
deep in the center of the universe
oh,
my universe)
