Platonic
Body of Stone
We are not simply the shadows cast
By ourselves. The penumbra is just
An oblique hint at the frontier
Of our definitions.
How we heed this law of language
Incites such ire at the Socratic ideal.
“I know more for I know that I know
Nothing.”
With the fire of rage they distort
Those images that climb the cave wall
Claiming them proof
That the forms by the torch
Are broken.
